Eagle Rock Entertainment invites you to witness a tale of sexual obsession, madness and murder in Love Her Madly, the feature film debut by legendary Doors co-founder and keyboardist, Ray Manzarek. On September 27, Love Her Madly, based on a story by Jim Morrison, will be featured at the 2002 New York Independent Video and Film Festival. The screening takes place at 8PM at the Clearview Cinema on 59th St. and 2nd Ave. Ray Manzarek will be on hand to discuss the inspiration and making of this film. Love Her Madly is set on and around the campus of the exclusive California College of the Arts. At the film's outset, an unidentified body draped by a blood-splattered sheet lays centre stage within the school's Greek Amphitheatre. The story unfolds in the days leading up to the murder. The five characters at the heart of this thriller/mystery are all artists: a dean of the college with a pedigree in all phases of the arts; a drama professor and former winner of the Pulitzer Prize; his two young prot»g»s - a sculptor and a video artist; and the untamable actress who casts her hold upon all three men, but is held by none. The intrigue of tangled relationships offers ample reason for any of these characters to be suspected as either the perpetrator or the victim. It's a whodunit in the finest film noir tradition. Directed by Manzarek and scored to a soundtrack by The Doors and their descendants, Love Her Madly includes appearances by Ray Manzarek and essayist Michael McClure. ""Love Her Madly is not only very dear to me because the story was originally written by Jim,"" says Manzarek. ""But also because I've dedicated years to completing it. It's great to bring this film to fans of the Doors and to the independent film community as well."" Manzarek is the celebrated keyboardist of the Doors and continues to make music and tour worldwide. Though he'd been studying music from the age of 8, Ray Manzarek originally intended to become a filmmaker. His student films at UCLA have been preserved (unlike those of classmate and Doors band member, Jim Morrison). He also produced three videos of the Doors -- Dance on Fire, The Soft Parade, and Live at the Hollywood Bowl - as well as the documentary on his work with Michael McClure, The Third Mind http://mcclure-manzarek.com/thirdmind.html. Ray Manzarek has directed over 16 short films and numerous videos. Last year he published his first novel ""The Poet in Exile."" He is also the author of an autobiography, ""Light My Fire: My Life With The Doors"" and the producer of four albums with the critically acclaimed LA band, X. Manzarek will perform The Music of the Doors for an historic duo collaboration with George Winston at Society Hall in New York City on September 26. On October 22, Eagle Rock Entertainment will release Doors Soundstage on DVD. This program features three live television performances and exclusive interviews by the Doors that originally aired individually on PBS as well as on CBS, Canada and Danish television.
