Enrique Iglesias made sales history this week with the release of Quizas. At #12, Quizas (Iglesiasís first all-Spanish album in 5 years) has the highest debut ever of an all-Spanish album on the Billboard Chart of Top 200 Albums. Quizas, deemed ""hipper"" ""heartfelt"" and ""evolved in style"" also debuted at #l on the Billboard Chart of Top Latin Albums and worldwide. It also sold more albums the first week of release than any Spanish album this year. ""Enrique Iglesias breaks the mold again. ""Quizas"" not only debuts #1 on the Latin Chart, but Enrique also makes history with the highest ranking Spanish album ever on the Billboard Top 200!"" said John Echevarria, President of Universal Music Latino. The album also sold more than 1 million copies in the first week of release, going # 1 on sales charts throughout the world. ""In spite of the economic crisis and piracy being suffered in our Latin American markets, Enrique, with his new, one hundred percent Spanish album, QUIZAS, has surpassed all expectations, selling one million copies in its first week. It was well worth the five year wait for the most important Hispanic artist of our times to allow us to enjoy an album completely in Spanish again,"" said Jesus Lopez, Chairman of Universal Music Latin America and the Iberian Peninsula. Quizas features Iglesias at his best, performing the rhythmic and warmly romantic pop inflected tracks that earned him Spanish language album sales in excess of 18 million, 14 #1 singles on the Hot Latin Tracks and two # 1ís on the Billboard Hot 100, a Grammy, three American Music Awards, and eight Premios Lo Nuestro. The first single from the album, has been #l in the U.S., Spain, Mexico, Chile, Colombia, Venezuela, Argentina and others. Iglesias wrote or co-wrote every track but one and recorded Quizas while in the middle of a hectic, worldwide promotion schedule for the tremendously successful ESCAPE album, his 2001 multi-platinum release, which has sold more than 8 million copies worldwide and produced 3 hit singles. The new album was produced by Enrique Iglesias, Lester Mendez and Rafael Perez Botija. ""I decided to do a Spanish album, because I love working. While I was promoting my English album, I started writing songs for this album. I felt I had enough songs to create an album and I didnít want to wait any longer. There are songs that have a magic that you canít control, and those are the ones to record,"" said Iglesias. One of the most exciting performers in the world, Iglesias is renowned for his charismatic live performance and for his ability to establish a rapport with his fans that ""makes his audience swoon"", and keeps them ""on their feet screaming and dancing"" from the first song to last. He is in the middle of the fall leg of his world tour, which continues to draw critical raves. Delivered by a crack l0-piece band, his material in concert ""retains the well-crafted pop charms that make them radio staples"", wrote one reporter. Upcoming dates include New Yorkís Madison Square Garden, Miamiís American Airlines Arena, the Staples Center in Los Angeles, and Mexico Cityís Auditorio Nacional.
