Runco Acquires Assets Of Vidikron And Projectavision

1-Oct-02

Runco International revealed at the 2002 CEDIA EXPO that it has acquired the assets of both the Vidikron and Projectavision brands. As a result, Runco leaps from one brand name to three, covering a broad spectrum of products, price ranges, and market segments beyond the high-end market it presently is firmly seated. Runco plans to retain a distinct identity for all three brands, positioning Vidikron and Projectavision independently into market segments previously untapped by the Runco product line. ""This will enable us to effectively serve a much greater segment of the consumer video market, while bringing the product performance, quality, and reliability Runco has established in the high-end segment to a whole new base of customers,"" said Runco CEO Sam Runco. He added, ""We're all about great pictures. That's what we do and we work hard to do that better than anyone else. This acquisition allows us to achieve a long-standing goal of bringing those pictures to many more people, who until now found Runco out of their economic reach. The prospects are exciting both for us and the new customers we will now be able to serve and provide enjoyment to."" Runco plans to develop a full product line for both brands and will introduce the initial product entries for each brand name at the 2003 CES. Plans include the addition of products and product categories not offered by the Runco brand name, which will continue to be positioned as the ""Rolls Royce"" of consumer video products.
