Richard Gray's Power Company, LLC announced the addition of the new RGPC SubStationô. The SubStationô takes advantage of an inherently balanced 240-volt AC line.Incompatibility between the various components that make up a typical home theatre installation cause unwanted ground loops that manifest themselves as hums in the AC. ""A dedicated line does not mean an isolated line,"" stated Richard Gray. ""These dedicated lines go back to the same bus-bar in the circuit breaker and leave them susceptible to ground loops.""The RGPC SubStation is a true 2.5-kilowatt isolation transformer that completely isolates the AC line, helping to eliminate these ground loops. The RGPC SubStation's isolation transformer is engineered to convert a true 240-volt line into an isolated 120-volt line with four commercial-grade, 20-amp Hubbell AC outlets to provide twice the amount of power over standard 110-volt outlets. Surge protection is a natural byproduct of this design, because a 240-volt line isolation transformer is balanced, and lightning is an unbalanced spike or pulse, which cannot penetrate the isolation transformer. The SubStation automatically rejects the unbalanced signal, stopping the lightning strike before it can cause any damage. The MSRP of the RGPC SubStation is $2,995 and is scheduled to ship in October 2002.For more information, visit www.richardgrayspowercompany.com.
