Richard Gray's Power Company (RGPC) has provided measurements supporting increased black levels of video displays from their AC power management systems.Josh Lehman, a certified ISF technician, video installer and Publisher of DigitalAudioVideo.com, conducted tests using an RGPC Model 1200S and an HDTV signal generator to measure the increase in black level over a ten-minute period. ""Black level is increased and you can see it,"" Lehman stated in his findings. ""Skip what you see in the literature, you can actually see it."" Lehman's tests produced what is referred to as ""blacker than black.""Lehman suggests that installers use a 20 or 10 IRE pattern, and give the display's capacitors a minute to heat up. ""On either pattern the black level deepens, and results can be seen on most displays, especially CRT, RPTVs, and front projectors."" Lehman further stated that even consumers using a PLUGE pattern on a video setup disc will notice dramatic results in a short amount of time. Lehman also suggests using a focus pattern to measure the improvement of noise reduction with the RGPC units.Lehman summed up his findings by stating, ""This is the difference between the low-end power conditioners retail chains try to push on you, and the real deal.""
