SIM2 USA, together with SIM2 Multimedia S.p.A., announced the newest addition to their line of Grand Cinema DLPô projectors, the HT300 PLUS. The HT300 PLUS utilizes the new HD2 chipset from Texas Instruments. The projector tops the HT300 by offering a higher contrast ratio, a digital input, and all-new cabinet colors. The new HD2 chip, along with an improved color wheel, results in a rated contrast ratio of greater than 1,800:1. The HD2 chip maintains the same high-definition resolution of 1280 x 720, but has a micromirror tilting angle of 12 degrees instead of the previous 10 degrees. The six-segment color wheel reduces color separation artifacts (commonly referred to as the ""rainbow effect"") by increasing the frequency of the colored images. The new HT300 PLUS features a DVI-D 24-pin input that allows digital connectivity to an increasing amount of video sources equipped with digital outputs.A proprietary design exclusive to SIM2, the HT300 PLUS features a sealed optical engine. SIM2 claimes to be the only manufacturer that seals the entire light path -- everything after the lamp and up to the lens is sealed.On-board DCDiô, powered by Faroudja, applies video enhancement and motion adaptive deinterlacing to prevent the introduction of motion artifacts and jagged edges from video-sourced signals. DCDi also features patented inverse 3:2 pulldown with advanced edit detection for reconstruction of the original film frame. Other features of the HT300 PLUS include double keystone adjustment with 16 degrees of optical correction. The HT300 PLUS is available in the same Gun Metal Gray as the HT300, as well as Burgundy and Light Gray. The MSRP for the HT300 PLUS is $13,995 and is shipping as of September 27. For more information, visit www.sim2usa.com.
