Onkyo Introduces Envision Theater System

Onkyo has introduced the Envision Theater LS-V500C, a DVD changer/receiver and 5.1-channel speaker package system. The included DR-C500 five-disc DVD receiver, which can be purchased separately for those who want to use a different speaker system, delivers 5 x 100 watts per channel (20 Hz- 20 kHz into 8 ohms), and is compatible with DVDs, CDs, VCDs, and MP3-encoded CD-R/RWs. The included speaker complement includes four two-way satellites, a dual-woofer center channel speaker, and a 150-watt powered subwoofer. The Onkyo DR-C500 DVD receiver features progressive scan component video as well as S-video and standard A/V outputs. It features built-in DolbyÆ Digital, Dolby Pro Logic II, DTSÆ, and MP3 decoding. DACs at 96 kHz/24-bit deliver 5.1-channel audio to the amplifier section and the dedicated subwoofer output. Color-coded terminals and common-sense organization are designed for simple, efficient setup and operation of the Envision LS-V500C. The receiver includes a pair of digital inputs, one digital output, and two audio/video inputs for additional components such as VCR, cable or satellite, or tape loop. The unit also features a built-in FM/AM tuner with 30 presets. The included six-speaker surround system includes four two-way front and surround satellites, a two-way horizontal center channel, and a 150-watt powered subwoofer. The front left/right satellites and center channel are all two-way bass reflex speakers, which are magnetically shielded. The center channel features dual four-inch woofers flanking a 1-inch tweeter, while the front and surround speakers feature a single woofer and tweeter. The 150-watt powered subwoofer features a rigid, low-mass, 8-inch long-throw woofer and is also magnetically shielded. All six speakers feature a stylish silver finish. The Envision includes a preprogrammed/learning remote control.When purchased as a system, the DVD changer/receiver and the speakers are finished in a silver gloss. When purchased as an individual component, the DR-C500 DVD receiver comes in a conventional black finish. The LS-V500C Envision Theater system is currently available at a suggested retail price of $900.
