KEF Unveils New XQ Series

KEF has announced details of its latest range of loudspeakers -- the XQ Series. Comprising four all-new designs, including a matching center-channel speaker, the XQ Series is said to bridge the gap between the current KEF Q Series and Reference Series. The XQ Series combines patented technologies from the Q Series and the Reference Series, featuring KEF Uni-QÆ ""point source"" arrays and ""super audio"" Hypertweetersô, as well as low-distortion bass drivers and audiophile-grade internal components. The XQ Series can be supplied in a range of finishes; a pale maple veneer or one of four high-gloss lacquer finishes: Silver and Graphite Metallic (to complement A/V equipment), Pearlescent White, or Maranello Red. The aluminum front baffles are anodized in Silver. All models are magnetically shielded and identically voiced. XQ one The XQ one has a 19mm (3/4-inch) elliptical dome titanium Hypertweeter, and the165mm (6.5-inch) Uni-Q array. XQ three The XQ three has the same elliptical dome 3/4-inch tweeter and 6.5-inch midrange Uni-Q array. A 6.5-inch bass driver is housed in its own separate enclosure. The same, separate high-order crossovers are used for different sections of the frequency spectrum. XQ five The XQ five is a four-way floor-stander with two 6.5-inch bass drivers, in addition to the 6.5-inch midrange Uni-Q array and KEF's new titanium dome Hypertweeter.
