Polk Audio Adds New Features To Web Site

28-Oct-02

Polk Audio announced the addition of two features to PolkAudio.com. The first is an interactive tool that helps consumers choose the appropriate Polk home subwoofer for their room size and main speakers. The second allows consumers to post unfiltered reviews of Polk speakers for everyone to see. With Subwoofer Chooser (www.polkaudio.com/home/toolbox/splroomsize), the user enters the listening room dimensions and listener-to-subwoofer distance in either inches or meters, and indicates their front left and right speaker model. The Chooser engine calculates the expected SPL at the listening position and offers one or more appropriate choices. Text and an SPL chart help consumers understand the relative meaning of the SPL numbers and aid in the selection of a Polk subwoofer that is right for their needs. ""Our customer service people told us that the subwoofer choice question is among the most often asked on our toll-free help lines and customer service e-mails,"" said Polk Marketing Vice President Al Ballard. ""We asked our engineers if they could help us quantify the subwoofer/room interaction and develop an interactive tool, and this is the result. Before making the feature 'live' on our site we tested it with existing Polk speaker owners with great success. Many test users reported that the tool had chosen the very same sub that they owned and loved, validating the accuracy of the Chooser."" The Subwoofer Chooser joins Polk's System Builder (www.polkaudio.com/home/toolbox/sysbld.php) interactive tool, which helps consumers choose home theatre speaker packages that meet their needs. Visitors to PolkAudio.com may post their own opinions of Polk home and car products without pre-screening by Polk Audio. Reviews are instantly posted and are later censored only in cases of obscenity or obvious prank posts. Reviews that express negative opinions of Polk products are displayed, along with positive reviews (www.polkaudio.com/home/library/reviews/customers.php?category=4&spea ker=178). ""I've seen sites that allow posting of consumer's reviews but the user has to submit the review to the webmaster who may or may not post it for all to see. One site states 'we cannot guarantee every submission will make it on the Web site,'"" noted Ballard. ""In the interest of credibility, we want our site visitors to see bad and mediocre comments as well as the good."" For more information about Polk Audio, visit www.polkaudio.com.
