Samsung Debuts 61-Inch DLP Rear-Projection Set

Samsung Electronics America, Inc. introduced the largest rear-projection HDTV with second-generation DLPô technology, the 61-inch HLM617W.""Samsung's DLP TV product line and specifically the flagship model HLM617W blows the competition away by offering incomparable value when considering its light weight, slim styled cabinet, and fully digital HD performance,"" said Steve G. Panosian, Senior Marketing Manager for Samsung's Visual Display Group. ""It is the perfect choice for a consumer desiring a large-screen, high-performance TV that accepts virtually any video input including a computer signal. Because the set is powered by Texas Instruments' second-generation DLP technology there is no threat of screen aging or 'burn-in' due to screen format issues or use as a computer monitor. Never before has an HDTV monitor of this size been able to deliver sharp and bright images from movies, video games, sports, or DVDs in a form factor that you can sit on a shelf, or custom-install in your wall."" The HLM617W incorporates a 16:9 widescreen aspect ratio, DVI connection (with HDCP copy protection), 1280 x 720 display resolution for all inputs, a dual-tuner picture-in-picture feature, and a DVD (480i/p) auto-sensing component video input. The HLM617W also adds Faroudja DCDiô and Samsung's proprietary DNIeô (Digital Natural Image engine).
