Sharp Adds Widescreen AQUOS Liquid Crystal Television To Line

11-Nov-02

Sharp Electronics Corporation has expanded its flat-screen AQUOSô LCD display line to include a new 22-inch widescreen model, the LC-22SV2U. This display features the ASV (Advanced Super View) panel, offering a 170-degree viewing angle, a 500:1 contrast ratio, and a 16:9 aspect ratio. ""This addition to the widescreen AQUOS line marks Sharp's continued commitment to meeting customers' demands and to leading the industry with the broadest line of liquid crystal television models,"" said Tony Favia, Senior Product Manager, Liquid Crystal Television, Sharp Electronics Corporation. ""The AQUOS widescreen models feature state-of-the-art ASV panels, and provide today's design-conscious consumers with the high-performance and high-style televisions they demand."" The LC-22SV2U uses the ASV panel, featuring Ultra-High Aperture TFT (UHA TFT), a new development in LCD panel technology claimed to yield a high contrast ratio. It also includes ""Black TFT"" coating on the panels to reduce glare and improve brightness in ambient light conditions. The LC-22SV2U offers native WVGA resolution (854 x 480), four different viewing modes, two speakers which frame the screen on either side, and table stands. Also available are mounting brackets. Also featured are a 60,000-hour backlight life, multiple video signal inputs (component, S-video, and composite), and a built-in cable TV tuner. AQUOS televisions are said to consume 60 percent less power than comparably sized CRT direct-view televisions. The LC-22SV2U is available at an MSRP of $3,799.95.
