Runco Introduces HDX Plasma Displays

27-Nov-02

Runco International has introduced two new plasma displays, the 50-inch PL-50HDX and the 43-inch PL-43HDX. They allow for display of 720p high-definition video in native resolution. Runco's proprietary PFP Controller with ViViXô processing is included in the cost of each model. The 50-inch (diagonal) PL-50HDX displays 1280 x 768 and the 43-inch PL-43HDX has a native resolution of 1024 x 768. Both models feature Expanded Dynamic Gamma, said to eliminate the ""digital"" look often seen in dark scenes on plasma panels. Runco's new plasma monitors and the PFP ViViX controllers each include a DVI (Digital Visual Interface) input, fully compliant with HDCP (high-bandwidth digital content protection). The monitors each provide RGB, component, composite and S-video inputs. The PFP ViViX controller supplies component, S-video, and composite inputs, as well as a pass-through and an RS-232 port for automation. A full-function infrared remote control is also included with both models. Runco's PFP ViViX controller features sophisticated video processing that accepts all video formats, including high-definition 1080i, 1080p, 720p, and 480p, as well as 480i, and optimizes them to take advantage of the full resolution of the panel. The PFP ViViX also incorporates proprietary 3:2 pull-down processing and edge enhancement. The processor offers Runco's Virtual Wide Aspect Ratio for reproducing 4:3 programming on the widescreen displays with minimal image distortion. The PL-50HDX has an MSRP of $16,995. The PL-43HDX has an MSRP of $12,995. For more information on Runco International, visit www.runco.com.
