Sony Introduces Progressive Scan 301-Disc DVD Changer

Sony has introduced a new 301-disc DVD-Video changer equipped with progressive scan video output. The DVP-CX875P features Sony's Precision Cinema Progressive video output, as well as multi-disc Resume Memory and Disc Explorerô, which is an on-screen graphical user interface providing consumers access to their software library. ""With the outstanding video performance and content features on DVDs, movie enthusiasts are buying more videos than ever before ,"" said Joseph Stinziano, Director of Marketing for Sony Electronics' Home Entertainment Products Division. ""Our Precision Cinema Progressive, 301-disc DVD changer offers powerful A/V performance and convenience features, including an advanced disc navigation tool that allows DVD enthusiasts to categorize and manage movie and music libraries according to their tastes."" The DVP-CX875P's progressive scan video output is based on Sony's Precision Cinema Progressive system, which incorporates Pixel-by-Pixel I/P Conversion technology to stabilize DVD-video elements. The Pixel-by-Pixel I/P Conversion method is said to remove artifacts usually found in video-originated content, sharpening both slow- and fast-moving video objects to maintain the integrity of the DVD source material. The Precision Cinema Progressive system also incorporates V-Edge Compensation, which is claimed to virtually eliminate jagged edges on diagonal lines. In addition, the unit's Precision Driveô2 technology is said to provide faster and more accurate read of some discs that may be warped or have imperfections. The DVP-CX875P is also equipped with DVD-R/RW and DVD+RW playback capabilities, as well as CD-R/RW. With an on-screen user interface, the unit's Disc Explorerô 300+1 Disc Management System allows categories of discs to be grouped by genre and sorted alphabetically. The system also offers separate folders for different family members. The unit also includes a new DVD Resume Memory function which works for up to six DVDs at once.
