Versatile and ever-surprising Blue Man Group introduced and performed the first Beta test of their new DVD 5.1 Surround Sound Listening Booth at the Virgin Megastore at Caesarís Forum-Las Vegas on Thursday, December 5th. The booth, which is open to the public, is a result of collaboration between Blue Man Group and Virgin Entertainment Group and its design allows listeners to experience the true thrill of DVD 5.1 Surround Sound technology. The booth will mark the first custom artist listening experience in a major music retail store, a step that again demonstrates Virgin Entertainmentís commitment to support artist initiatives and think outside the box of traditional retail promotions.The DVD 5.1 Surround Sound booth is 8 feet tall and 7 feet wide and resembles a giant PVC tube, like those Blue Man Group uses in their hit shows. The booth, with a sound system created by Bose, recreates the ìsweet spotî of the listening area - the perfect position between speakers where the listener can experience the sound and feel of every element of the recording. The boothís visitors get to experience the surround sound mix of ìAudio.î Blue Man Group has been among the handful of artists who have recorded in DVD 5.1 Surround Sound and their Grammy nominated debut album, ìAudio,î has remained a fixture on Soundscanís DVD-A best selling album chart.In addition to ìAudio,î the booth will feature a plasma TV screen that will showcase images from Blue Man Groupís Las Vegas show, ìBlue Man Group - Live At Luxor.î Current plans are for the DVD 5.1 Surround Sound booth to remain at the Virgin Megastore at Caesarís Forum-Las Vegas for six months.
