17-Jan-03

In a significant expansion of its high-definition television offering, JVC announced that its line of I'Art Pro rear-projection HDTVs will grow to seven models in 2003. The expansion includes a new, larger screen size, two sets with built-in ATSC tuners, and four featuring JVC's new Digital Image Scaling Technology (D.I.S.T.) technology that upconverts signals to 1500i. The line will be comprised of one 48-inch model, three 56-inch sets, and three 65-inch televisions, a new size for JVC. ""This expansion underscores JVC's intention to be aggressive in the HDTV market this year, building upon the success of last year's I'Art Pro rear-projection TVs,"" said Dan McCarron, National Product Specialist, Color Television Division, JVC Company of America. ""Our larger line for 2003 provides an HDTV solution for a wide variety of applications, with sizes and feature packages that deliver the kind of performance the HDTV customer demands."" The AV-48WP74, AV-56WP74, and AV-65WP74 incorporate JVC's D.I.S.T. 1080i which displays all signals in 1080i. JVC has also updated its DSD circuitry with new 75 MHz HD DSD (Digital Super Detail) edge correction circuitry and offers the first 16 MHz/10-bit 3-D Y/C comb filter. The line is further strengthened with the addition of such home theatre features as TheaterPro 6500K color temperature, Digital Noise Clear Circuitry, an interactive plug-in menu, XDS ID display, Natural Cinema 3:2 pull-down detection with on/off capability for all telecine sources, and a convenient front-panel access to auto-convergence. Also included is selectable velocity scan modulation and white character correction circuitry. The new JVC I'Art Pro rear-projection TVs also include JVC's unique ""Natural Progressive"" picture improvement technologies to optimize signal quality before the picture is displayed on the screen. JVC's 10.95 Million Pixel Natural Progressive technology doubles the image data in each field and uses advanced 3-D interpolation to display a solid image without any noticeable scanning lines, and eliminates jagged edge noise and image trails. To these features and technologies the AV-56WP84 and AV-65WP84 add JVC's new D.I.S.T. 1500i, whereby all signals are displayed at 1500i, and an illuminated emissive light universal remote control. The AV-56WP94 and AV-65WP94 add an ATSC tuner and IEEE 1394 connectivity. A DVI input with HDCP (High-bandwidth Digital Content Protection) in all models offers an uncompressed solution to the transmission and display of high-definition content. Other features include dual auto-sensing component video inputs to ensure the best possible picture quality, whether the source is HD cable, HD satellite, DVD, or D-VHS. Each set also features three S-video inputs, four A/V inputs, and dual NTSC tuners with a multi-index window display, and a dark tinted screen shield with a scratch-resistant coating. For audio performance, the new JVC rear projection TVs incorporate BBEÆ High Definition Sound Enhancement and new Advanced Hyper Surround Sound to complement the 20-watt bass reflection speaker system. There is also a center channel speaker input, subwoofer output, and AV CompuLink III for connectivity with JVC audio and video products. The JVC WP74 Series will be introduced March-June 2003 at Nationally Advertised Values of $1,899.95, $2,199.95, and $2,899.95 for the AV-48WP74, AV-56WP74, and AV-65WP74, respectively.
