JVC has introduced a new flagship high-performance audio/video control receiver, the RX-DP20VBK. Fully compatible with new high-resolution audio formats, the THXÆ Ultra2-certified receiver brings a true audiophile experience to home entertainment systems. JVC partnered with Texas Instruments (TI) to be the first in the industry to incorporate TI's Aureusô Audio DSP, the company's newest 32/64-bit floating-point digital signal processor (DSP) technology. At the core of the technology is a 225 MHz DSP, optimized for home theatre products and capable of 1800 million instructions per second (MIPS). With the performance and flexibility of this device, the JVC RX-DP20VBK can handle even the most demanding decoders, such as DTSÆ 96/24, and offer additional audio processing algorithms all on a single DSP. ""We are excited to be working with JVC, a recognized leader in the industry,"" said Curt Moore, Business Manager of TI's Performance Audio group. ""The combination of TI's DA610 DSP and JVC's audio systems expertise will enable the next level of immersive and realistic listening experiences."" With 7.1 multichannel high-resolution audio capabilities, the RX-DP20VBK offers one of the most complete home theatre entertainment experiences available. The receiver is fully compatible with all audio formats, including DVD-Audio systems, and features three high-bandwidth component video inputs and seven digital inputs (four optical, three coaxial). The RX-DP20VBK includes THX Surround EXô, seven independent 120-watt amplifiers, and an independent direct power supply with separate analog and digital transformers. ""With the introduction of the RX-DP20VBK, JVC has answered the call from audiophiles for a top-of-the-line receiver equipped with the power and functionality to handle the most demanding home theatre and music applications,"" said Karl Bearnarth, Vice President, Consumer Audio Division, JVC Company of America. ""This model not only offers the best possible performance for all currently available formats, but it's designed to accommodate new technologies as they are introduced."" The RX-DP20VBK allows listeners to enjoy music anywhere in the home through a sophisticated multi-room/multi-source capability that allows people to listen to different audio sources (DVD or CD, for example) in two rooms at the same time. However, the RX-DP20VBK takes the multi-room/multi-source capability a step further by allowing the user to enjoy a DolbyÆ Digital 5.1 source in one room while playing another two-channel audio or video source in a second room. The RX-DP20VBK also features a 12-volt trigger to control a variety of convenient features, such as illumination, and a detachable power cord. The new RX-DP20VBK can accommodate all listeners' format preferences, including Dolby Digital, Dolby Digital EX, Dolby Pro LogicÆ II, DTS-ESÆ (with DTS Neo:6Æ), and DTS 96/24. Additionally, the RX-DP20VBK conforms to the Home THX Ultra2 specifications and standards established by THX Ltd. THX Ultra2 includes digital processing that compensates for spatial and acoustic differences between the home and movie theatre so that the cinema experience can be accurately replicated at home. It also includes processing for optimum playback of multichannel music. The RX-DP20VBK is available at a Nationally Advertised Value of $2,500.
