JVC Company of America announced a new DVD player line that offers a variety of high-performance features, a wider range of compatibility, and a sleek, low-profile design. ""Our 2003 DVD player product line focuses on style without compromising quality and performance,"" said Jerry Barbera, Vice President, Consumer Video Division, JVC Company of America. ""The elegant design of our new players reflects the technical sophistication of the engineering inside, exemplified by our ultra-slim series and our XV-NP1SL Multi-Media model that can handle most types of disk and digital still-image media available."" Most of JVC's new DVD players are available in either black or silver, and offer consumers a wide range of high-performance features. The 2003 line not only plays DVD and CDs but is compatible with DVD+RW/-RW, DVD-R, CD-R/RW, CD, VCD/SVCD, MP3 formats, and on select models, digital stills (JPEG on CD-R/RW). The 2003 models are optimized for the higher audio sampling frequency of 192 kHz, providing extra-wide dynamic range to realize the benefits of high-spec sources. The 54 MHz/10-bit super-high video sampling frequency (108 MHz/12-bit for select models) ensures detailed images and clear, pure colors for DVD movies. In addition, with seven parameters to adjust, the Video Fine Processor (VFP) provides exceptional versatility in fine-tuning images to personal preferences. The new high-resolution on-screen graphical user interface (GUI) allows Windows-like interactive operation with tool bars superimposed onto the TV screen for simple point-and-click operation. For digital camera enthusiasts, select 2003 models play back JPEG files from a CD-R or CD-RW, while the Multi-Media model--the XV-NP1SL--includes a memory slot that can handle four different types of still image media. Other convenience features include 1.5x playback with sound and 13-step high-quality zoom. Topping off the convenience features is Screen Fill, which zooms in on a DVD image to eliminate letterbox ""bars"" on the TV screen.
