Superstar Enrique Iglesias won an American Music Award last night in the category of Favorite Latin Artist, as announced during the broadcast on the ABC Network. Enrique is batting a remarkable .800 in this category, since this is the fourth time in the last five years that he won the award. He was also nominated in two other categories, which is particularly important since the award and the nominations are determined by the votes of fans around the country. ""I can't say enough abut my fans,"" commented Enrique. ""They have been with me almost seven years, since I started, and I feel they have grown with me every album I release. They are loyal.""Enrique's American Music Award win comes on the heels of the release of his first Spanish album in five years, Quiz?s (September 2002). The album debuted at #l on the Billboard Chart of Top Latin Albums, and Enrique set a music industry record the same week when Quiz?s #12, had the highest debut ever of an all-Spanish album on the Billboard Chart of Top 200 Albums. Quiz?s, deemed ""hipper"" ""heartfelt"" and ""evolved in style"", sold a million copies its first week of release, higher first week sales than any Spanish album last year. It has also topped the charts in Spain and throughout Latin America.Quiz?s has already generated two hit singles with the #l track, ""Mentiroso"", and the title track ""Quiz?s"", an intimate and heart wrenching look at family relationships, regret and reconciliation. The Los Angeles Times said about the track, ""(Iglesias's) willingness to bare his soul adds an extra level of poignancy and sincerity to his music."" 2002 was a remarkable year for Iglesias, who completed a critically acclaimed world tour that was ""so animated and electric you'd think Elvis had been resurrected"" (Boston Globe). His album ESCAPE hit the 9 million mark making Enrique one of the biggest selling artists in the world.
