Mission fs1 Home Theatre Loudspeaker System Wins Innovations 2003 Design And Engineering Award

27-Jan-03

In recognition of the company's position as a world leader in loudspeaker manufacturing, the Mission fs1 home theatre loudspeaker system has received a prestigious Innovations 2003 Design and Engineering Awards from the Consumer Electronics Association (CEA). The Innovations awards program is the industry's most recognized, honoring excellence in the latest designs in consumer electronics hardware and software. Winners of the Innovations 2003 awards are chosen by a panel of judges comprised of industrial designers, engineers, and trade press. In addition to CEA sanction, the program is endorsed by the Industrial Designers Society of America (IDSA). Mission's distinctive, space-saving fs1 home theatre loudspeaker system is the company's third-generation product utilizing advanced NXT flat-panel technology. The stunningly designed, ultra-modern fs1 system offers a high-technology, high-style alternative to traditional box-type home theatre speakers, and opens up a myriad of possibilities for apartment dwellers and homeowners who want to enjoy the complete home theatre experience in any size room. The 5.1-channel Mission fs1 system achieves its breakthrough design and performance characteristics by eliminating speaker cabinets altogether, replacing them with elegant, slim-profile sound panels based on NXT flat-panel technology that fit snugly on walls or atop slender tower-like stands, along with a uniquely-designed powered subwoofer. ""Until now, if listeners wanted to experience cinema-like sound in a smaller den or bedroom, basically their only option was to clutter up their space with boxy loudspeakers,"" noted David Marchant, Director of Sales and Marketing at Mission. ""But thanks to the use of NXT flat-panel loudspeaker technology, we've been able to solve this problem with our new fs1 system. With its stylish new design and virtually limitless placement flexibility, it's the home theatre solution many people have been waiting for."" Mission ""Intelligent"" A/V System Replaces Speaker Cabinets The attractively designed fs1 system is designed to satisfy the growing consumer need for a five-speaker/subwoofer home theatre loudspeaker system that fits easily into smaller-sized living spaces. Key to the breakthrough compact design of the fs1 is Mission's ""intelligent"" system design, which eliminates the need for speaker cabinets--replacing them with slim-profile NXT sound panels that are designed to complement the living space rather than clutter it. The fs1 system includes five sound panels plus the active subwoofer with built-in 100-watt amplifier, and may be easily connected to any 5.1-channel home theatre receiver and audio/video components such as a DVD player, VCR, satellite receiver, and TV. Innovative Subwoofer Offers Low-Frequency Punch And Installation Flexibility The Mission fs1 system features a powerful, yet compact corner-mount subwoofer designed to fit easily behind a TV set or piece of furniture. The 8-inch treated paper cone woofer, built-in 100-watt amplifier, and reflex-tuned enclosure provide the clear, dynamic, articulate bass response necessary for enjoying a movie theatre-like experience at home. The unique subwoofer design is a further demonstration of the innovative engineering philosophy of the Mission fs Series concept. Rather than adopt a traditional cube subwoofer design, with its limited placement capability, the fs1 is designed to allow speaker placement in areas of the room traditionally considered to be ""dead space""--the corners. By engineering the enclosure to take advantage of both floor and wall boundaries, the subwoofer is able to deliver surprisingly powerful bass from a compact, space-saving design. The NXT Difference: Superb Sound Anywhere In The Room Because the NXT panels featured in the Mission fs1 system radiate sound in a different manner than traditional speaker systems, the relationship between speaker placement and the listener is much less critical. Thanks to its excellent dispersion characteristics, the fs1 system produces remarkably pure, coherent, and uncolored sound that is exceptionally smooth and balanced, no matter where listeners sit in the room, without the volume attenuation over distance that is a disadvantage of conventional speaker designs. Total Placement Flexibility The elegantly styled fs1 panels are supplied with desk stands and wall brackets, offering far greater versatility in room placement then conventional speakers. Optional matching floor stands are also available. For added flexibility, all audio/video connections are simplified by an easy-to-use ""plug-and-play"" cable system. One multi-way cable connects from the subwoofer to the user's A/V receiver, and all of the satellite speakers plug into the rear of the subwoofer using the supplied cables--enabling the system to be set up and playing in a matter of minutes. The Mission fs1 home theatre loudspeaker system is currently available at a projected retail price of approximately $1,000.
