Mission Celebrates Twenty-Five Years Of Audio Excellence With Limited Edition 780SE and 782SE Loudspeakers At CES 2003

27-Jan-03

At CES 2003, Mission, the world-renowned manufacturer of high-performance loudspeakers and systems for music and home theatre, introduced two reference-quality Special Edition loudspeakers to commemorate twenty-five years of excellence in loudspeaker design. The new Mission 780SE Special Edition compact monitor and Mission 782SE Special Edition floor-standing tower incorporate a host of upgraded features and technologies from the standard 78 Series versions, to achieve superlative fidelity and musical realism. David Marchant, Mission Director of Sales and Marketing noted, ""Mission was founded on the principle of providing high-quality loudspeakers and products that deliver genuine value, through the application of advanced technologies and efficient, state-of-the-art manufacturing processes. We are extremely proud that in recent years, our loudspeakers and home theatre packages have been earning accolades from a broad spectrum of reviewers, from high-end enthusiast magazines to mainstream consumer publications--and our latest products continue to build upon this heritage."" Mission 780SE And 782SE: Special In Every Respect The Mission 780SE and 782SE Special Edition loudspeakers are highly reworked versions of two of Mission's most acclaimed models, featuring exclusive advanced-technology drivers and premium construction throughout. Both models employ a new microfiber dome tweeter, mechanically isolated from the front baffle using Mission's D2IS Damped Driver Isolation System, which incorporates a specially-designed foam damping suspension for exceptional resolution without ""smearing."" The midrange drivers and woofers in the 780SE and 782SE utilize a unique Keraform cone material, consisting of ceramic material impregnated into a fiber matrix and then oven-cured. The Keraform driver cones are highly rigid, yet lightweight, with a greater stiffness to mass ratio than any previously used cone material to yield extraordinary clarity, smoothness, and transient response while reducing ""overhang"" and distortion. The performance of these Special Edition drivers is maximized by the use of the highest-quality internal components and innovative enclosure designs. The 780SE and 782SE both feature refinements such as audiophile-grade polypropylene capacitors, high-power silicon iron-cored inductors, and even specially designed wiring utilizing twisted-core OFC (oxygen-free copper) with specific strand construction optimized for the bass and treble sections of the crossover, along with expanded polyethylene insulation for maximum sonic purity. The enclosures are built to equally high standards, employing Mission's Transverse Folded Cabinet Technology (TFCT), in which the speaker baffle, back, top, and base are machined from a single piece of wood, for unmatched structural integrity. The enclosure also features internally machined contours designed to attenuate cavity resonances and standing waves, to virtually eliminate unwanted sonic colorations. The Mission 780SE and 782SE are immaculately finished in silk-smooth, close-grained alder wood, carefully matched and polished to achieve the appearance of fine furniture. The standard of precision and finish of the loudspeakers' cabinets exemplifies Mission's attention to detail and commitment to quality in every respect. The Mission 780SE Special Edition loudspeaker carries a suggested retail price of $760 per pair, while the 782SE Special Edition carries a suggested retail price of $1,925 per pair.
