Samsung Electronics America, Inc., the DTV leader that introduced the first truly integrated HDTV in 1998, announced a powerful new line of integrated HDTV televisions designed to help take the confusion out of shopping for a high-definition television set. Featuring built-in, over-the-air HD signal receivers and advanced sound systems, Samsung's integrated HDTV line demonstrates to customers the ease with which they can ""go digital."" The full line includes 52- and 55-inch widescreen rear-projection sets, a 40-inch LCD TV, and a 30-inch DynaFlat model. While simple enough for newcomers to HDTV to use, these widescreen sets are also packed with an array of new features including dual high-definition inputs (480i/480p/1080i). Perfect for home environments where space is a consideration, these 52- and 55-inch models are housed in sleek, floor-standing cabinets that are far lighter than incumbent large-screen sets, while a new 30-inch DynaFlat model can fit even in tight spots. ""Since we introduced the first integrated HDTV, Samsung has worked hard to demonstrate to consumers that digital television is available now and that is one of our key messages this year,"" said Jim Sanduski, Vice President of Marketing, Visual Display Products Group. ""There's no better way to reinforce that message than with the introduction of new, integrated HDTV sets that offer power and performance in one simple-to-use package."" HDTV, with its widescreen format and enhanced resolution, is the most advanced kind of digital television available, offering picture quality that's noticeably superior to traditional analog television. Samsung's integrated HDTV sets incorporate the latest screen and audio enhancements. Integrated 52- And 55-Inch Rear-Projection Sets For customers seeking a large viewing experience, Samsung unveils three new models, the 52-inch HLN529WH and the 55-inch HLN5529WH and HLN559WH. Each of these new sets utilizes Samsung's exclusive enhanced Auto PerfectFocusô digital auto-convergence system, which offers 15-point multi-digital focus adjustments at the touch of a button. Another new feature is Samsung's Cinema Progressive Scanô Converter with Film Mode 3:2 pull-down. Each model includes RealFlect Systemô Pro, a cutting-edge set of video enhancements that provide large-screen TVs with brighter, crisper images, heightened detail of moving images and text, and greater overall picture clarity. It also utilizes Samsung's DNIeô (Digital Natural Image engine) and has an improved picture-in-picture feature with a stock ticker mode for scrolling on-screen information. For enhanced audio, Samsung has added a BBEÆ sound system with five-band sound equalizer to each of these three models. The system powers the built-in 30-watt wood frame speaker system. Samsung's integrated 52-inch HDTV model, the HLN529WH, sports a new cabinet design exclusive to this set. The set includes dual HDTV inputs (480i/480p/1080i), DVI connection, plus the Auto PerfectFocus, Cinema Progressive Scan Converter, and RealFlect System Pro features, and the BBE sound system and 30-watt wood frame speakers. The HLN5529WH and HLN559WH, the two 55-inch integrated HDTV sets feature dual HDTV inputs (480i/480p/1080i), DVI connection, plus the Auto PerfectFocus, Cinema Progressive Scan Converter with 3:2 pull-down, RealFlect System Pro, and a 30-watt wood frame speaker system with BBE sound enhancement. The HLN5529WH comes with a built-in, silver-gray, floor-standing cabinet. The step up model HLN559WH improves on the HLN5529WH with three high-definition component inputs, adds split-screen picture-in-picture with a side-by-side picture mode, 3-D Y/C digital comb filter, and a first-surface mirror. The HLN559WH's cabinet also includes an integrated component shelf with a hinged door. Integrated LCD And DynaFlat Solutions Samsung has introduced the world's largest integrated LCD HDTV with the 40-inch LTN406W. It includes Samsung's first-ever proprietary digital processing algorithm, DNIe, which ensures enhanced contrast, detail, white tone, and noise reduction. The LTN406W also employs the industry-standard DVI (Digital Visual Interface) with HDCP for a digital connection without the quality losses associated with an analog connection. Samsung's new TXN3085WHD 30-Inch DynaFlat set features Light Touchô front-panel menu buttons which provide a sleek look to the design and are backlit via a soft-touch membrane for ease of use. It uses Samsung's state-of-the-art, proprietary DynaFlat technology, which presents a perfectly flat image without the curvature, image distortion, or glare that is associated with traditional TV screens. A DVI input, wideband auto-sensing component (YPbPr) inputs, and a host of other connections are also included. This integrated set also incorporates Samsung's built-in tuner featuring on-screen program guides. The 30-inch DynaFlat TXN3085WHD (MSRP $1,599.99) is available in May, the HLN529WH ($2,299) and the HLN559WH ($2,699) are available in June; the HLN5529WH ($2,499) is available in May; and the LTN406W ($8,999) joins the line in July.
