29-Jan-03

Samsung Electronics America, Inc., an established innovator in digital television, raises the bar on its award-winning HDTV line with the debut of ten enhanced DynaFlat Direct View HD models to be introduced in the second quarter of 2003. Created for those who demand the best in picture quality, design, and performance, these new DynaFlats offer improved video enhancements and more advanced technology while still maintaining their position as the most affordable HD solutions on the market. The full line includes the 26-inch widescreen TXN2670WHF (the smallest direct-view widescreen HD model available), a 30-inch widescreen model, 27-inch and 32-inch 4:3 models, and a fully integrated HDTV 30-inch set. The latest DynaFlat models feature a new Ultra Fine Dot Pitch DynaFlat screen, 3:2 pull-down, and connections to handle whatever TV format a user may choose: satellite, cable, or over-the-air. The new Ultra Fine Dot Pitch DynaFlat screen is a perfectly flat surface that has none of the curvature, image distortion, or glare associated with traditional TV screens. Offering comfortable viewing with brilliant, crisp pictures, Samsung's DynaFlat TVs match the benefits of flat with the advantages of digital. These HDTV monitors are capable of displaying the finest DTV signal with the addition of a digital satellite receiver, digital cable box, or an HDTV tuner such as Samsung's SIR-T165. DynaFlat technology offers higher quality TV now, and full HDTV capabilities when you're ready to make the leap. John Lavoie, Marketing Manager, Visual Display Group, Samsung Electronics America, Inc., states, ""Samsung's HDTVs are the talk of the industry, offering top-rated technology at prices that make owning DTV an affordable reality today. Our new DynaFlat line offers the benefits of HDTV and progressive scan capability to users who have space issues or who want a high-quality TV for areas other than their main living room. We're also expanding our line of wide sets, because we believe wide is the format of the future."" The 26-inch widescreen TXN2670WHF (MSRP $999), 27-inch TXN2771HF ($899), 30-inch widescreen TXN3071WHF ($1,199), and 32-inch TXN3271HF ($1,199) include Samsung's 3:2 pull-down. The difference between film and video frame speeds causes blurring, stuttering, and other motion artifacts, especially during fast-action sequences. With Samsung's 3:2 pull-down process, these anomalies are corrected and a smooth picture is obtained that is much closer to the original film. The 27-, 30-, and 32-inch models feature the new Light Touchô front-panel menu buttons (menu, channel, volume), which are backlit via a soft-touch membrane for ease of use and a high-tech look. Side-Speaker Neos Two advanced models join Samsung's high-end Neo-designed DynaFlat HDTV monitor line: the 30-inch widescreen TXN3075WHF ($1,299) and the 32-inch TXN3275HF ($1,299). Designed for those who demand top-line performance and style, Samsung's sophisticated new side-speaker Neo cabinet design incorporates a more powerful 30-watt stereo system that enhances the home theatre experience with fuller and richer sound. These models also include Ultra Fine Dot Pitch, 3:2 pull-down, and have optional stands available that match the Neo design. Slim, Bottom-Firing Neos Three sleek Tantus models top-off Samsung's Neo-designed DynaFlat lineup for 2003: 27-inch TXN2798HF ($1,099), 30-inch widescreen TXN3098WHF ($1,599) and 32-inch TXN3298HF ($1,499). All feature Samsung's slim-width Neo design, an earth-shaking built-in subwoofer and powerful satellite speaker system, 3:2 pull-down, and Super Fine Dot Pitch. In addition, these models will appeal to the most serious home theatre enthusiast with the inclusion of the industry-standard DVI (Digital Visual Interface) with HDCP. DVI provides a digital connection without the quality losses associated with an analog connection. For additional picture enhancements, they also employ Samsung's first-ever proprietary digital processing algorithm, DNIeô (Digital Natural Image engine), which ensures improved contrast, detail, white tone, and noise reduction. Users can easily see the benefits of DNIe demonstrated via the on-screen demo mode that shows handy a ""before"" and ""after"" comparison. For those seeking a full out-of-the-box HDTV solution, Samsung offers the new TXN3085WHD 30-inch DynaFlat ($1,599). Light Touch front-panel menu buttons provide a sleek look to the design and are backlit via a soft-touch membrane for ease of use. It uses Samsung's state-of-the-art, proprietary DynaFlat technology, which presents a perfectly flat image without the curvature, image distortion, or glare that is associated with traditional TV screens. A DVI input, wideband auto-sensing component (YPbPr) inputs, and a host of other connections are also included. This integrated set also incorporates Samsung's built-in tuner featuring on-screen program guides. For more information about Samsung Electronics America, Inc., visit www.samsungusa.com.
