Full Line Of Tabletop Rear-Projection DTVs Employing Texas Instruments' Second-Generation DLP Technology Expands to Five Screen Sizes Ranging From 43 To 61 Inches

29-Jan-03

Samsung Electronics America, Inc. expands its line of DLPô-based DTV monitors with the introduction of the 46-inch HLN467W and 56-inch HLN567W with a new slim bezel design. The new sets join Samsung's currently available 43-inch, 50-inch, and 61-inch rear-projection HDTVs employing Texas Instrument's second-generation DLP technology. These large-screen tabletop HDTVs are notable not only for their screen performance, but also for their affordable price and their remarkable form-factor--a bezel that's a mere 2/3 inches wide, a weight under 105 pounds, and a depth of less than twenty inches deep. The HLN467W and HLN567W offer brightness and contrast at a fraction of the cost of first-generation DLP sets. They also feature a 16:9 widescreen aspect ratio, DVI with HDCP for a pure digital connection with content protection, 1280 x 720 display resolution for all inputs, a dual tuner picture-in-picture feature, and a DVD (480i/480p) auto-sensing component video input. The HLN467W and the 56-inch HLN567W include DCDiô by Faroudja (Directional Correlational Deinterlacingô), the highest quality video processing for any video format, Faroudja's patented auto-sensing 3:2 pull-down system, and Samsung's proprietary DNIeô (Digital Natural Image engine) for enhanced contrast, detail and color, and noise reduction. ""With the addition of the HLN467W and HLN567W, Samsung's DLP offerings now stretch from 43 inches to 61 inches with performance and pricing that will redefine the above-$3,000 television market,"" said Steve Panosian, Senior Marketing Manager for Samsung's Visual Display Group. ""By offering incomparable value in a lightweight, slim-styled bezel and cabinet with a fully digital HD performance, we have created the perfect choice for a consumer desiring a large-screen, high-performance TV that accepts virtually any video input including a computer signal. Because the set is powered by Texas Instruments' second-generation HD2 panel and combined with Samsung's optical engine expertise, the picture has been the key driver for capturing the consumer's attention. The fact that there is no screen aging or other picture degradation issues over time has driven consumers to realize very quickly that they can view whatever they want on these sets and without consequences. Never before has an HDTV monitor of this size been able to deliver sharp and bright images from movies, video games, sports, or DVDs in a form factor that you can sit on a shelf, or custom-install in your wall."" The HLN467W (MSRP $4,499) and HLN567W ($4,999) will both be available in April. For more information about Samsung Electronics America, Inc., visit www.samsungusa.com.
