Samsung Expands Its Home Theatre-In-A-Box Lineup For 2003

29-Jan-03

Samsung Electronics America, Inc., which entered the burgeoning Home Theater in a Box (HTIB) category in 2002, announced two additions to its HTIB line, the HT-DB300 and HT-DB650, and introduces its new Auto Sound Calibration DSP chip. Samsung's systems offer an affordable way for users to enjoy the benefits of a high-quality home theatre system with space-saving convenience, simple set-up, and ease-of-use. Wwith the HT-DB650, Samsung introduces its new Auto Sound Calibration DSP chip, which gives users the ability to calibrate their system's sound for their listening environment by positioning a wireless microphone and pushing a single button. ""Samsung's reputation for matching high quality with ease-of-use is nowhere more apparent than in the newest additions to our popular HTIB line,"" says Mark Farish, Marketing Manger for Samsung Electronics America. ""With the HT-DB650 system, we've made achieving perfect sound as simple as point-and-click."" Samsung is noted for its innovation in the DVD category, and the DVD players included with the HT-DB300 and HT-DB650 are no exception. Each system's DVD player includes 480p progressive scan video output, and supports playback from DVD, CD, MP3-CD, and CD-R/CD-RW formats. Each player also features a built in AM/FM digital tuning system with 30 station presets, and a JPEG CD viewer for displaying digital camera snapshots or other computer-generated images. The top-of-the-line HT-DB650 goes further. Its DVD player uses a five-disc carousel, and adds Samsung's exclusive new Auto Sound Calibration DSP chip. This breakthrough chip enhances sound quality in a unique way: the user positions a wireless microphone wherever they're sitting in the home theatre room and pushes a button. The HT-DB650 automatically detects the channel level and distance according to the speakers' position and size, and adjusts the system's sound levels accordingly. Offering true 5.1 surround sound from a 500-watt system, the HT-DB650 outputs 80 watts per channel and a 100-watt subwoofer. It is enhanced with a DolbyÆ Pro LogicÆ II decoder and DTSÆ. Samsung's HT-DB300 offers 5.1 surround sound with 60 watts per channel and a 100-watt subwoofer. Like the HT-DB650, it includes a Dolby Pro Logic II decoder. The HT-DB300 (MSRP $329.99) and the HT-DB600 ($399.99) arrive in stores in March. For more information about Samsung Electronics America, Inc., visit www.samsungusa.com.
