Pioneer Introduces Elite Home Theatre System

12-Feb-03

For the first time ever, Pioneer Electronics (USA) Inc. has created a home theatre system designed specifically for upscale, Elite consumers, offering a universal DVD-Audio/SACD player with 108 MHz/12-bit video processing and bass management. The ES-1000DV packs enough power and performance to be used as the primary home theatre system, or for an auxiliary system in a bedroom or den. It is the first home entertainment system to utilize the organic electroluminescent technology frequently seen in mobile entertainment products, for a vivid display that requires minimal energy use. Pioneer is also introducing the HTZ-825DV home theatre system, designed to coordinate with Pioneer-branded plasma displays, incorporating floor-standing speakers in its five-speaker array. ""Pioneer has never before offered an Elite-branded home theatre package. But with this new system, we've got unbelievable performance that consumers expect from the Elite line, along with extraordinary styling,"" said Craig McManis, Vice President of Marketing for the Home Entertainment Division at Pioneer Electronics (USA) Inc. ES-1000DV The first-ever Pioneer Elite home theatre system offers playback of DVD-Audio, SACD, DVD-Video, DVD-R, DVD-RW, MP3, CD, CD-R/RW, and VCD. The Elite quality is maintained in its universal DVD player with PureCinemaô progressive scan circuitry. Styling was critical in providing an elegantly designed unit, required of an Elite product--all-metal construction and a motorized door were employed with the organic electroluminescent (OEL) display. Pioneer incorporated an independent OEL display at 256 x 80 resolution and 3-1/2 x 3/4-inch display. OEL provides full-motion, three-dimensional gradient images to give consumers better display interaction with a very wide viewing angle in all light conditions. The self-emitting device is ultra-thin with extremely low power consumption, because it does not require backlighting. Pioneer perfected the manufacture of OEL for use in its mobile entertainment head units and is now transferring that technology to a wider range of products. Five full-range, color-matched satellite speakers and a powered subwoofer are packaged with the ES-1000DV. The ES-1000DV is available at a suggested retail price of $2,000. HTZ-825DV This all-in-one DVD player/receiver home theatre system offers playback of DVD, CD, and MP3. The HTZ-825DV offers DolbyÆ Digital, Dolby Pro LogicÆ II, and DTSÆ processing, as well as virtual Dolby Surround. Pioneer offers premium audio and video playback quality, with 27 MHz/10-bit video processing and 192 kHz/24-bit audio digital-to-analog conversion. The HTZ-825DV features five-channels of high-quality, equal power amplification to all channels. All five channels are of discrete configuration and utilize Pioneer's hybrid amplification system to ensure that the correct amount of bias signal is applied to each transistor for low distortion. The HTZ-825DV is an ideal system to use with Pioneer's plasma televisions, offering complementary designed speakers and a sleek style suitable for use with plasma. Five full-range, color-matched satellite speakers and a powered subwoofer are packaged with the system. The HTZ-825DV is available at a suggested retail price of $1,000.
