The German loudspeaker ELAC has introduced the CINEMA PIPE, a floor-standing speaker. The CINEMA PIPE is equipped with a glass plinth or base. It is ideally suited as the main front speakers in a home theatre setup (recommended ELAC speakers that match this slender loudspeaker are the CINEMA 2 satellites, CINEMA XL center, and one of ELAC's powered subwoofers). The CINEMA PIPE features an extruded brushed aluminum cabinet and nominal impedance of 6 ohms. The drivers include a 25mm silk dome tweeter with ferrofluid cooling, driven by a neodymium magnet system. The speaker uses four concave-shaped 80mm midrange/woofers, including filtering for controlled dispersion, and a long-life rubber surround and cellulose cone, damped on the back. The CINEMA PIPE is said to enable maximum SPL above 100 dB.The CINEMA PIPE provides for overload protection and magnetic shielding. Available in silver brushed aluminum, the suggested retail price is $999 per pair. ELAC is a leader in engineering and manufacturing consumer hi-fi loudspeakers.
