Toshiba Showcases Revamped TheaterWide HD Line Featuring New Product Features And Sleek Cosmetic Designs

Toshiba America Consumer Products, Inc. announced that it will be significantly expanding its current offerings in the TheaterWide HD projection television lineup to include a new LCoS model, three new integrated HD sets, and five new HD monitors. ""With the expansion, and upgrade of the TheaterWide HD line, we have a series of products that can compete with the best of any brand,"" said Scott Ramirez, Toshiba Vice President of Marketing. ""In both pure picture quality and innovative design, TheaterWide HD projection TVs are a step above."" TheaterWide HD Widescreen Monitor Projection TV The newest TheaterWide HD models ranging from 42 to 65 inches include the 42H83, 46H83, 51H83, 57H83, and 65H83. The TheaterWide HD monitor models feature PowerFocus HD2 CRTs, PowerFocus HC Lens System, TheaterShield, and TouchFocus auto digital convergence. For 2003, 46-inch TheaterWide HD models and above feature CrystalScan HDSC All-Time 1080i, TheaterFine HD Super Fine Pitch Screen, CableClearô DNR+, Auto 16:9 Mode, SRSÆ WOW, Speed Tuning, and DVI with HDCP. The new TheaterWide HD sets also feature redesigned cabinetry. The 46-inch is a tabletop model, with a matching stand option. The 51-, 57-, and 65-inch are floor-standing models, and both the 57-inch and 65-inch models feature split-cabinet designs. The new TheaterWide HD design also features lifting handles for easier setup and in-home positioning. TheaterWide HD Integrated Sets Toshiba's new TheaterWide HD integrated sets include the 51H93, 57H93, and 65H93. The new TheaterWide HD sets come equipped with ATSC and QAM tuners for digital terrestrial and digital cable in-the-clear reception, and a built-in interactive program guide. The sets are equipped with two IEEE 1394 ports with DTCP, the new TheaterNet IR ICON control system for external device control, a DolbyÆ Digital output, and Multi Card Slots for JPEG viewing. The new TheaterWide HD LCoS model features new cosmetics and increased contrast. Toshiba's new 57HL83 utilizes three 1920 x 1080 LCoS chips. Improvements in the digital light engine and light path are said to have resulted in an additional 15 percent increase in contrast. The 57HL83 comes equipped with a full array of rear input jacks, including DVI with HDCP. The 57HL83 also features new cosmetics, with a floating shield and touch-sensitive controls. The new TheaterWide HD projection TVs are available now. The TheaterWide HD integrated models will be available in July, and the TheaterWide HD LCoS is scheduled to debut in September 2003.
