McIntosh Laboratory has introduced the MC501 500-watt monoblock amplifier. The fully balanced MC501 delivers 500 watts continuous power, and over 1200 watts of peak power into low impedances while maintaining noise levels 124 dB below rated power. The Quad-Differential design, a McIntosh exclusive, reduces noise and distortion by delegating an individual amplifier to each speaker output. The Quad-Differential design of the MC501 consists of two amplifier circuits, each the mirror image of the other, whose outputs are combined in the unique McIntosh Output AutoformerÆ, resulting in totally balanced operation from input to speaker output. The MC501 has a new and bold, yet distinctive McIntosh three-dimensional glass front-panel design. Fiber optic LED lighting delivers continuous tone across its front panel. The chassis is styled in polished stainless steel, with an overall depth measurement of 14-13/16 inches. The MC501 is available now at a manufacturer's suggested retail price of $4,100. The MC501 was introduced at the Home Entertainment 2003 show in San Francisco. For more information about McIntosh, visit www.mcintoshlabs.com.
