Proficient Audio has introduced two new subwoofers, the S8 and S10.According to Keith Marshall, Vice President of Proficient, ""Proficient new line of subs seamlessly integrate with home theatre systems and really enhance the listener's experience."" Says Marshall, ""Proficient S8 and S10 subwoofers are built using the latest aesthetic designs and best components available. The S10, for example, features a front-firing 10-inch long-excursion treated paper cone woofer. And, the driver and dual vents are positioned to fire forward to better couple the system to the room. A high-output 120-watt amplifier delivers high sound pressure levels with an absolute minimum of distortion. Plus, Proficient's anti-clipping circuitry allows you to drive the sub to max output without audible distortion.""The S8 offers all the elements of the S10, but is more space-conscious. The driver, amplifier, and crossover network in the Proficient S8 are optimized for its smaller cabinet. ""The result,"" reports Marshall, ""is accurate and tight bass in a small-sized sub that still manages to maintain solid control at even the lowest frequencies. The S8 provides deep bass output to meet the demands of most mid-sized media rooms."" The S10's frequency response is 32 Hz-200 Hz. The manufacturer's suggested retail price (MSRP) is $450. The S8's frequency response is 45 Hz-200 Hz. The MSRP is $350. Proficient subwoofers are backed with a two-year limited warranty.
