Digital video products such as TV/DVD combinations and DVD players have again produced increases in video category sales for the month of July, according to figures released by the Consumer Electronics Association (CEA). During July, factory-to-dealer sales of TV/DVD combinations increased by 84 percent to more than 96,912 units. Standalone DVD player sales reached 999,508 units for the month, representing an increase of four percent compared to the same period in 2002. The increases among DVD product sales during July have helped boost year-to-date totals as well. Year-to-date shipments of standalone DVD players now total 8.8 million units--an increase of 21 percent over 2002. So far this year, total factory-to-dealer sales of TV/DVD combinations are up 233 percent with 753,216 units.
