MartinLoganÆ has announced the introduction of the compact new Frescoô on-wall/off-wall loudspeaker featuring a selection of installation options, aesthetics, premium crossover design, high-excursion and high-resolution bass drivers, and ATFô (Advanced Thin Film) transducer technology. The Fresco functions as front or surround channel speakers, either on-wall or off-wall in both horizontal and vertical orientations. An ""on-wall/off-wall"" switch allows listeners to tailor Fresco's acoustic equalization to either installation option. The Fresco comes standard with a low-profile, single-pivot wall bracket, allowing horizontal and vertical on-wall mounting. Optional installation solutions include a floor stand, center channel stand, shelf stand, and a universal multi-pivot on-wall bracket.Available in a selection of faceplate and grille cover options, the Fresco complements plasma screens and the complete MartinLogan product line. Removable, custom faceplates will also be available to integrate with contemporary, architectural, high-value interiors. In addition, Fresco's high-density molded cabinet is paint-ready. The Fresco features MartinLogan's state-of-the-art Vojtkoô crossover, designed and manufactured with the same meticulous attention, care, and precision as those found in MartinLogan's signature loudspeaker products. The Fresco also features high-excursion, very low-mass bass drivers, in combination with a specifically tuned chamber and electronic filtering. The MartinLogan ATF transducer consists of a micro-thin, low-mass diaphragm with an ultra-light, etched conductive aluminum surface suspended between two high-field strength neodymium super-magnet arrays. When an electrical current (music signal) passes through the etched aluminum on the diaphragm's surface, it is simultaneously pulled toward one of the neodymium arrays and pushed away from the opposing. When the direction of current is reversed, the diaphragm is simultaneously pushed and pulled in the opposite direction, thus producing sound. This concept is known as push-pull and is a major contributor to the performance of both ATF and electrostatic MartinLogan thin film transducers.ATF diaphragms are constructed of very low-mass DuPont KaladexÆ PEN (Polyethylene Naphthalate), a material chemically similar to the low-mass PET (Polyethylene Terathylate) film used in MartinLogan's Generation 2 electrostatic transducers, yet is capable of handling the high thermal requirements needed for stable magnetic thin film operation. Full surface drive capabilities allow this durable, low-mass diaphragm to remain discretely sized, yet achieve very low distortion levels and high resolution. The ATF transducers are magnetically shielded. The Fresco is now shipping at a retail price of $995 each. For more information, visit www.martinlogan.com.
