Pioneer Electronics (USA) Inc. introduced the VSX-59TXi Elite digital audio/video receiver offering the latest in digital processing, room tuning, and high-resolution multichannel audio. The VSX-59TXi is the third receiver from Pioneer that allows for high-resolution multichannel digital audio interface (i.LINK) for DVD-Audio and SACD connectivity, and one of the first receivers to incorporate Dolby Pro Logic IIx.""A receiver is the backbone of any great home theatre system. Knowing this to be true, Pioneer designs our receivers to provide the best audio and video reproduction possible, enhancing the best of what consumer's DVD players and televisions have to offer."" said Russ Johnston, Senior Vice President of Marketing for Home Entertainment at Pioneer Electronics (USA) Inc. The Pioneer VSX-59TXi Elite receiver offers equal amplifier power to all channels. All amplifiers are of discrete MOSFET configuration. This receiver also offers THXÆ Ultra2, DolbyÆ Digital EXô, DTS-ESÆ, Dolby Pro LogicÆ II, and DTS Neo:6Æ surround processing. All surround processing is performed at 96 kHz. (DTS-ES and Dolby Digital EX are processed at 48 kHz).The VSX-59TXi also features a multichannel USB audio input for connection to a PC.The VSX-59TXi receiver provides an updated, advanced multichannel acoustic calibration system (MCACC). This feature was first adopted in the VSX-49TX. The calibration system works by measuring the acoustic characteristics of the listening area and adjusting for the ambient characteristics that can ""color"" the original source material. First the MCACC uses the microphone provided to check and test ambient noise levels, the microphone, and speaker level. Once the initial set-up calibration is complete, the system automatically confirms the size of the speakers that are hooked up to the receiver and distance to the listener, and then performs a surround analysis. Finally, MCACC checks channel delay and channel level, before performing the acoustic calibration. During the acoustic calibration process, the speakers will emit a series of pink noise signals that are received by the microphone and sent to a nine-band digital equalizer for final calibration of up to seven channels. The VSX-59TXi also allows the user to manually equalize the speakers as well.New ""Advanced MCACC"" features include:- Professional Acoustic Calibration setup takes into consideration the reverberant qualities of the listening area, and uses this information to adjust the frequency response more accurately for human ears, distinguishing the difference between the direct sound from each speaker and the reflected sound off of the walls.- Auto Pro: The receiver outputs test tones, and automatically adjusts the frequency balance for each speaker in accordance with the reverberation characteristics in the listening room. - Manual Pro: The receiver measures the room acoustics with reverberation and displays this information on-screen. Once the reverberation characteristic in each frequency band is measured, the user can select which timing frequency to use for manual calibration.- New to the MCACC is the ability to send data to a PC through the RS-232C port for a detailed and precise display of the measured reverberation frequency response in the listening room.- The X-curve is a standard equalization curve used in commercial movie theatres and dubbing stages. The X-curve compensates for the psychoacoustic perception of balanced tonality (flat frequency response), depending on the size of the listening room. Pioneer developed a living room-sized version of the X-curve for home entertainment purposes. The X-Curve can be implemented manually or automatically.Along with a triple layer chassis, TAOC insulator, Pioneer's 3-D space frame construction, as well as Concentrated Direct Construction, the VSX-59TXi is said to be nearly free from acoustic vibration.Pioneer redesigned its universal touch-screen remote control. This new remote allows dealers to personalize each of the menu screens. The remote is rechargeable and comes equipped with a charging station. The VSX-59TXi will be available this winter. For more information about Pioneer Electronics (USA) Inc., visit www.pioneerelectronics.com.
