Yamaha Introduces MX-D1 Stereo Digital Power Amplifier With Proprietary Class D Technology

23-Sep-03

Yamaha Electronics Corporation debuted its digital stereo power amplifier, the MX-D1, at CEDIA EXPO 2003. The MX-D1 employs Yamaha's digital amplification technology to deliver 500 watts per channel (THD less than 0.003%, dynamic range greater than 120 dB). In addition, the MX-D1 uses Yamaha's proprietary power engine chipset featuring the YDA133 modulator LSI and two YDA134 Power MOS drive LSIs. Its technology includes a constant-gain PLL modulator circuit, a cross-feedback loop circuit, advanced analog feedback, an active power control system, a direct-drive high-efficiency power supply, a magnetic coupling rectification circuit, and high-speed protection circuits. It also features twin monaural independent construction (independent chambers to prevent interference) and a low-noise, low-impedance design. Input and speaker connections provided via WBT terminals. The MX-D1 features a sleek, low-line design and a gloss black finish. Optional accessories include the YPC-1 passive attenuator, a separate unit with input selection and volume control. The MX-D1 (MSRP $3,999) and YPC-1 (MSRP $1,499) will be available in December. For more information about Yamaha Electronics Corporation, visit www.yamaha.com/yec.
