24-Nov-03

With sales of high-definition televisions creating an expanded customer base for the terrestrial antenna category, Thomson (Euronext Paris: 18453, NYSE: TMS) has released a new line of RCA antennas designed to enhance reception of over-the-air HDTV signals. The five new models provide stylish indoor and outdoor solutions for off-air reception. ""The HDTV transition is stimulating antenna sales with consumers who want to view local channels in HDTV for free,"" said David Geise, Vice President, Consumer Solutions, Thomson. More than one-thousand broadcast stations in 200-plus local markets are now transmitting programs in HDTV and that number will continue to grow. To attract these viewers, we have developed antennas that seamlessly fit a room decor or take up minimal space."" Clip-On Antennas Strengthen Local Channel Reception The RCA ANT3900 and RCA ANT3901 are perfect complements for small satellite dishes, delivering local off-air VHF and UHF signals to satellite subscribers at no extra cost. Specifically designed to weather outdoor elements, each antenna attaches to a DirecTVÆ or DISH Networkô outdoor satellite antenna dish. The antenna's internal amplifier is powered by the DBS receiver, eliminating the need for an additional power source. Both models feature 10 dB of fixed amplification to enhance the reception. The ANT3900 is designed for 18-inch or 20-inch dishes with single or dual output LNB and has a suggested retail price of $59.95. The ANT3901 is compatible with elliptical DBS satellite dishes with multiple LNBs and supports up to four satellite receivers. Suggested retail price is $79.95. Two Stylish Indoor Models Featuring contemporary two-tone silver designs, two new HDTV-compatible RCA indoor antennas provide sharp reception of TV signals. The RCA ANT401 includes 25 dB amplification and variable gain control for adjusting the amount of amplification needed to improve weak signal reception. It also includes an auxiliary input, an integrated six-foot coaxial connector cable, and 39-inch retractable dipoles that tilt and rotate for an improved picture. As an additional design benefit, the UHF loop folds down into the unit when not in use and no-scuff pads on the bottom of the antenna protect the TV set. Suggested retail price is $34.95. The RCA ANT301 sports the same design and features as the ANT401, with 10 dB amplification and adjustable gain control. Suggested retail price is $24.95. Slim And Sleek ANT711 Designed For Indoor And Outdoor Use The lightweight and compact RCA ANT711 Amplified Indoor-Outdoor Antenna features a streamlined, linear design measuring 46-1/2 inches long and 9 inches wide. This antenna provides versatile installation options. It can be mounted on the roof, under the eaves, on a balcony, outside a window, on a wall near the TV, or even on a recreational vehicle for television viewing on the road. The antenna can also be painted to match an indoor or outdoor decor. The ANT711 includes 10 dB of amplification for improved reception of weak signals, and an integrated recessed cable track enables the antenna to fit snugly to a surface. Virtually all the hardware is included for normal installation. Suggested retail price is $99.95. For more information about Thomson, visit www.thomson.net.
