ADI Has Put ART In Denon's New AVR

29-Jan-04

Audio Room Tuner (ART) is a new software algorithm for audio calibration and equalization that makes it easy, fast and convenient for consumers to match surround sound receiver settings to the acoustics of the space where they are installing home theater or music systems. ART enables the best possible listening experience across a wide ""sweet spot"" in the room. Audio manufacturers gain greater differentiation in bringing highly optimized and easy to set up surround sound to a broader consumer market where buyers value simple operation as highly as the latest new features. Denon Electronics was the first to introduce ART technology to the consumer; its recently introduced AVR-3805 receiver uses the algorithm and Analog Devices' third-generation SHARC Processor, the ADSP-21266. This new third-generation SHARC DSP offers 32-bit floating point support for great audio performance and is capable of processing 1.2 billion floating point operations per second. The Denon AVR-3805 is Denon's first to offer automatic room and speaker equalization. The Denon receiver features 7.1-channel surround decoding and includes Dolby Pro Logic IIx, Dolby Digital Surround EX, DTS, DTS 96/24 5.1 for DVD-Video, DTS-ES Discrete 6/1, ES Matrix 6.1 and Neo: 6"" Cinema & Music modes which are all supported by the SHARC Melody Platform. Analog Devices' ART technology is available to manufacturers as part of the complete audio processing and system development environment delivered by the SHARC Melody Platform. The most recent SHARC processors feature high integration for optimized system costs, support for the latest audio decoders and postprocessors and numerous audio-specific on-chip peripherals, which help manufacturers bring studio-quality audio to consumers quickly and at reasonable prices.
