Music Video Distributors and Inakustik are pleased to announce the home viewing release of Garland Jeffreys ñ Hail Hail Rock ëNí Roll Live for North American distribution on DVD.Effort and entertainment are not mutually exclusive. Garland Jeffreys provides the best example of this with the DVD ""Hail Hail RockíníRoll Live,"" which was recorded during a European tour in 1992. The American singer is brilliant as a versatile and visually adaptable entertainer. In his songwriting he poses critical questions and clearly distances himself from common prejudices and racial discrimination. Garland Jeffreys was not only fascinated by Bob Dylanís work, but also with blues, rock and reggae. Out of these ingredients, he created a sound that was completely his own. In 1973 he published an album under his own name for the first time, on which he took a good look at the New York scene of the time. The legendary Dr. John arranged a song entitled ìWild in the Streets,î which was typical for the album. The single quickly entered the charts and not only critics but also colleagues hailed the newcomer as a hot tip. In 1979 Garland Jeffreys finally achieved his breakthrough with the album ""Ghost Writer"" and caught the eye of a wider audience. It would be twelve years until the singer could land his biggest album to date. He achieved this in 1992 with the CD ""Donít Call Me Buckwheat"" and its hit single Hail Hail Rock'n'Roll. He showcased this and other songs at a concert in Munich in the same year during a tour of Germany, where the politically active singer also showed himself to be a great rock entertainer. His highly individual mixture of rock, soul, reggae and pop brought Garland Jeffreys thunderous applause from the audience.
