Music Video Distributors and Inakustik are pleased to announce the home viewing release of Go Jazz Allstars ñ In Concert: Ohne Filter for North American distribution on DVD. The history of the Go Jazz label begins in 1990. The multi-talented Ben Sidran had already made his mark as a successful singer, keyboard player, composer and philosopher with a doctorate in musicology, as well as an author (""Black Talk"") and television presenter. Sidran, who started his career with the dazzling Steve Miller Band in the late sixties, founded the Go Jazz company on his philoposphy that ""music is a mixture of everything, and yet individual in its own right. I felt that I could not be the only musician who is influenced this way."" The above quote also defines the musical direction Ben Sidran wanted the Go Jazz Allstars to represent. ""The doctor"" ñ as his colleagues like to call the label boss ñ presides over the ensemble, which features five to eight musicians, depending on the line-up. However, the Allstars have another key figure ñ a man who is famous for his performances as a singer, who more than meets the requirements to play alongside Ben Sidran and who has been an active player in the music industry since 1960. He therefore contributes a wealth of experience to the band, which produces music ranging from catchy pop tunes to blues and rhythm & blues to jazz. We are of course talking about the singer, pianist and Hammond organist Clive Powell, who performed under the stage name of Georgie Fame during the wild sixties topping the UK music charts no fewer than three times. In 1998, the unstoppable Sidran made space in his timetable to hook up with another all-star combo ñ former Stones bassist, Bill Wymanís rock band, the Rhythm Kings. Sidran considers the Go Jazz Allstars as the ideal platform to express his musical taste with the backing of a team of virtuoso, experienced and disciplined musicians whose names can be found on countless numbers of record covers and tour programs. In spring 1992, when the Allstars were checking into a television studio in the Far East for the production of their CD ""Live in Japan"" the line-up featured singer and keyboarder Ricky Peterson, his brother Billy as bassist, saxophonist Bob Malach and drummer Gordy Knudtson. The popular Italian television entertainer and vocalist GegÈ Telesforo, veteran drummer Clyde Stubblefield and fusion and blues guitarist Phil Upchurch all strongly enhanced and supported the core group of Sidran, Fame and Peterson during the tour of Germany in 1995. In 1996, at the North Sea Jazz Festival, popular bassist Alec Dankworth enriched the team while saxophonist Bob Rockwell cemented the position he had taken up during the previous yearís tour. These groups of virtuosos form a marvelous calling card for the Go Jazz label with their inspirational mixture of rhythm & blues, funk and jazz. An energetic, exciting and moving live experience is always guaranteed, without the safety net of back-up technology. Take note: wherever Go Jazz Allstars appear, top-notch music is guaranteed. This performance was recorded on June 30th 1998.
