NTT America, Inc. announced that Fuji Television Network, Inc. and NTT Com have succeeded in the testing and demonstration of the world's first IP-based, non-compressed HDTV transmission between Tokyo, Japan and Las Vegas, Nevada, USA at the NAB2004 convention. The demonstration is being conducted through April 22, 2004 at the Las Vegas Convention Center. The two companies are exhibiting an HD non-compressed IP transmission system that connects Tokyo and Las Vegas by a 2.4 Gbps optical fiber network. This system allows for an interactive HD transmission from both locations using Internet protocol. The demonstration shows how to operate an IP-HD camera that is located in Tokyo by using a remote console which is at the booth in Las Vegas. ìHD, which is a relatively new technology, is expected to bloom in the near future,î said Nobuyuki Fukui, Vice President of NTT America. ìIt is our pleasure to participate in this demonstration, which shows how our IP technology can expand the horizon of our customer's business.
