The JVC Professional Products Company has announced the formation of a cooperative relationship with Radyne ComStream to offer solutions for high-quality HDTV content distribution using MPEG-2 4:2:2 profile compression technology. The combination of these unique technologies creates a superior MPEG-2 4:2:2 HD delivery system ideal for high-quality, live-event distribution to theatres equipped for digital cinema. ìThe unique combination of the JVC DM-D4600U decoder and the Tiernan THE15A encoder delivers a ground-breaking HD system never before available to the viewing public. This system provides far more realistic and life-like images than conventional HD 4:2:0 systems.î Radyne ComStream demonstrated its Tiernan THE15A 4:2:2 HD MPEG-2 encoder with the JVC DM-D4600U 4-2-2 HD MPEG-2 decoder at transport stream (TS) rates above 70 Mbps, delivering high-quality images on a cinema-size screen over dark fiber. The Tiernan THE15A video compression process delivers superior HD images with TS rates of up to 108 Mbps and seamless motion estimation across all picture areas.
