Music Video Distributors and XIII BIS are pleased to announce the home viewing release of The Gladiators- Live In Paris for US distribution on DVD.Like the Wailers, the Gladiators vocal abilities are matched by their musical talent, making them one of the rare Jamaican groups that actually are a band in the true sense of the word. Thus, while every vocal group has its own unique sound, the Gladiators created a distinct style, one that has shone forth regardless of producer. This is evident on the DVD Live in Paris, recorded at LíElysee Montmartre on October 22, 2000. For over three decades, Albert Griffiths and his Gladiators have been a major force within Jamaica. In 1968, Griffiths and Webber joined forces with Errol Grandison, and the Gladiators were born. The group first had success, when Hello Carol topped the charts in late 1968. As the years passed the Gladiators continued to record hits, including Freedom Train and Rock a Man Soul. In 1976, the Gladiators signed a deal with Virgin Records in Britain, and began work on their label debut with producer Prince Tony Robinson. In the end, Trenchtown Mix Up album was born.Although the Gladiators were always successful in Jamaica they never seemed to break out abroad, so in 1980 the trio joined forces with Eddy Grant, who oversaw the group's album. This ended up being a major mistake, and won the group few fans, and lost them many of their older followers. But with Griffithís determination, the Gladiators continued recording high-quality albums, including Valley of Decision and A True Rastaman. The Gladiators kicked off the millennium with Something a Gwaan, and havenít looked back.Track List:Intro Head To My Toe Hug Me Up Bongo Red The Belly Full Look Is Deceiving Hello Carol Jah WorksSomething a Gwaan Big Fish Stick A Bush Also included is the bonus track Soul Rebel.
