Screen Research has announced the availability of Le Wing - a new product that pairs their award-winning ClearPix acoustically transparent, motorized retractable screen with a left, center, and right loudspeaker system. Designed for the high-definition video projection market, Le Wingís screen and speaker system lower and rise together, providing a unique solution for those wanting big screen performance when they desire, but also no visible screen or speakers the rest of the time. First introduced in prototype stage at the Mondial Image Photo Son of Paris in late March 2004, the final production version was showcased in the StJohn Group booth (#69) at the CEDIA 2004 Expo in Indianapolis, Indiana, September 10 - 12, 2004. StJohn Group is the exclusive North and Central American distributor for Screen Research. The full range of products from Screen Research will be featured at the CEDIA exhibit, including their new fixed frame and motorized screens, plus an Ultimate 4-way XMask professional-grade masking system. StJohn Group sales director, John Caldwell, added, ìWhen the screen is deployed, itís ëall movies, sports and gaming on the big screen,í but when the room is being used for other types of entertaining, what do you do with the screen and speakers?î Le Wing solves the problem of wanting to preserve the aesthetics of the room and allowing enjoyment of high-level performance with one system. ìWhen using the room for something other than video projection, the screen and front channel loudspeakers are discretely hidden away in a designer-friendly wing-shaped housing. ìAnd home theater is not the only application for this technology. It is perfect for news rooms, control centers, post-production facilities, corporate boardrooms, education facilities, museums, theme parks, sport arenas, pools, simulatorsÖ you name it!î Initially, Le Wing will be available in a 1.78:1 (16:9) aspect ratio, in 80-inch wide and 96-inch wide (viewable area) models. False ceiling and floor cabinet models will follow in the very near future. Screen Research has partnered with renowned speaker expert, Triangle Industries, to supply the custom-tuned speakers for Le Wing. Triangle is known worldwide for high performance loudspeakers and will be introducing a new line of models in conjunction with Le Wingís introduction, including timbre-matched surrounds and subwoofers under the Screen Research brand name. Said Screen Research President, Yves TrÈlohan, ìThis partnership with Triangle allows us to equip Le Wing with a very high quality acoustical system - an ideal complement to our ClearPix screen technology. Triangle was the best choice, as a partner, because their products offer perfect compatibility with Home Cinema and music and exceptional dynamics and listening clarity. Triangle is constantly seeking innovation. The resulting unique acoustical aesthetic matches perfectly with Screen Researchís positioning.î Le Wing can be ordered now and will be shipping in November, 2004. Manufacturerís suggested retail pricing starts at $15,700. The Screen Research web site is http://www.screenresearch.com.
