Telarc Captures Horizon Award At Surround 2004 In Hollywood, CA

Telarc took home the Horizon Award at the 2004 Surround Music Awards on August 31 in Hollywood, California. The award went to Hiromiís Brain, a Telarc recording released on CD and SA-CD in May 2004. The Horizon Award is presented to an up-and-coming artist who has taken full and thoughtful advantage of surround during the making of their first or second title. Engineer Michael Bishop accepted the award on behalf of Hiromi at the awards show and said, ìI am thrilled that Hiromiís SA-CD ìBrainî has been recognized by this award. Hiromi worked with me at every step of the surround mix process, and she clearly recognizes the power of the surround mix to more fully involve the listener in her music. I know surround has since become an integral part of Hiromiís composing process.î ìIím very honored to be given this award,î said Hiromi. ìSound has always been a primary focus in my music, and this encourages me to grow further in this direction. Thank you so much.î A broad panel of industry notables?óengineers, producers, manufacturers, and journalistsóreviewed nominated titles and voted for the finalists based on their knowledge of and exposure to those titles. The list of finalists was heavily publicized among the UEM family of magazines, including Surround Professional, Residential Systems, Medialine, and Pro Sound News. The five finalists in each category were judged by a five-member blue-ribbon panel. The panel selected the award winners, based on extended individual listening sessions. The Surround Music Awards were established by Surround 2003 producersóUnited Entertainment Media, publisher of Surround Professionalóto honor excellence in the specific field of multi-channel and high-resolution music production. The Surround 2004 Conference serves as the forum for the Annual Surround Music Awards, recognizing the best in surround sound arts and sciences.
