All three models employ a 6th-order Butterworth crossover, a rear firing mass-loaded passive radiator as well as built-in control and amplifier electronics.Two high-output subwoofers round out the HR Series line. The 12-inch HRS120 features a downward-firing 12-inch woofer with a forward-firing 12-inch passive radiator and an on-board amplifier capable of up to 500 watts. The 15-inch HRS150 features a 15-inch downward firing woofer, two side-firing 12-inch passive radiators, and on-board amplification capable of delivering over 1000 watts. Inputs on both subwoofers are provided through XLR or RCA style connectors while a high-pass output allows for connection to active full-range speakers or amplifiers powering passive full range speakers. The on-board two-way crossover is viable from 55 to 110Hz on both the HRS120 and HRS150.Also on display this week at CES are the TAPCO studio-grade reference speakers. A sister to the Mackie brand, TAPCO speakers benefit from the same speaker design expertise behind the Mackie HR Series speakers and bring near Mackie-level performance to market in a more budget-oriented package. The TAPCO studio monitors consist of three models. The 5-inch two way S*5, the 8-inch two way S*8, and the SW*10, 10-inch subwoofer. Like the Mackie HR Series, the TAPCO monitors feature on-board amplification, crossovers and processing.
