High resolution computer graphics and high definition television signals are difficult to extend beyond 15 feet without seeing significant signal degradation.""With advance cabling and enhancements techniques using higher gauge copper cables, an additional distance up to 30 or 50 feet can be accomplished, but not always with a 100 percent accurate reproduction of a perfect image,"" explained Hagai Gefen, President. To solve this common problem, Gefen introduced its DVI and HDMI Boosters, small boxes with enhanced electronics that enable long distance, high definition video extension, sustaining resolutions up to 1080p.The Boosters work with various types of digital video cables, essentially correcting any signal degradation that occurs when using cables to extend displays up to about 100 feet in length. In operation, the Booster connects one end of the cable to the display or to a second cable, regenerating the signal before transmitting it to its final destination. Cables can be basically strung along, connected by intermittent Boosters, which are powered by the cable's power source.Depending on the types of cable used and the desired resolutions, the DVI and HDMI Boosters are effective at various lengths up to 100 feet. Any digital cable that does not work at 30 to 50 feet will now work when combined with a Booster. The Boosters also offer greater flexibility in customizing extension lengths because any two cable lengths can be used. The two new models are named after the interface with which they're equipped: DVI (digital visual interface) transmits high definition video up to 1080p; HDMI (high definition multimedia interface) transmits high definition video plus multichannel digital audio. The DVI and HDMI Boosters (MSRP $249) pass through HDCP and HDMI compliant signals. For more information, visit http://www.gefen.com
