THETA DIGITAL DEBUTS DREADNAUGHT III MULTI-CHANNEL POWER AMPLIFIER WITH THERMALTRAK™ AUDIO OUTPUT TRANSISTORS

By Gary Reber

The most widely acclaimed manufacturer of high-end audio components, Theta Digital, is introducing the Dreadnaught III Power Amplifier to its range of US-designed and US-built products. The Dreadnaught series of amplifiers has been the benchmark in performance for over 10 years.

The Dreadnaught III is a fully-differential balanced amplifier employing zero-feedback in the output stage. The key enhancement in the Dreadnaught III is the incorporation of ThermalTrak™ audio output transistors resulting in increased audio performance as well as overall reliability. These new devices allow accurate control of the output stage bias while preventing “thermal runaway.”  Distortion levels are dramatically improved. The noise floor of the Dreadnaught III also improves through the elimination of the oscillation at the zero volt crossing. All this is accomplished in real time.  The Dreadnaught III also features the Ultra Soft Start turn-on circuitry. This essential feature protects the amplifier from high in-rush power surges and eliminates the need for special AC power supplies.

FEATURES:

  • Instant thermal bias tracking
  • Absolute thermal integrity
  • High safe operating area
  • Ultra Soft Start turn-on

BENEFITS:

  • Eliminates thermal equilibrium lag time and bias trimming
  • Improved bias stability
  • Superior sound quality through improved dynamic temperature response
  • AC spike circuit protects power devices

The Dreadnaught III measures 17 5/8”W by 8 7/16”H by 23”D Weight (5 channel version) is 115 pounds boxed.
