Overland Park, Kansas – Induction Dynamics has announced an updated design for the company’s flagship ID1 tower speaker. First introduced in the 1990s, the ID1 has been embraced by audiophiles around the world for its perfectly matched drivers and hand-adjusted crossover components that ensure flawless reproduction of audio source material. The updated version provides a new front-ported cabinet design and separated high and low subwoofers for accurate bass response even in challenging rooms.
As with the original ID1, the new version includes a unique 3-inch soft dome mid-range driver that covers the entire voice bandwidth for completely natural sounding vocals. This driver is paired with a 1.125-inch inverted titanium dome tweeter, one 6.5-inch Kevlar cone woofer with rubber surround and cast frame, and two 10-inch mica-graphite poly cone subwoofers with rubber surround and cast frame. All drivers are hand-selected to match one another within ½ dB; Induction Dynamics’ patented S4X® super fourth-order crossover provides superior driver control for a wider vertical sweet spot.
the ID1 represented a breakthrough in speaker sound,” said Duke Ducoff, MSE Audio VP of Sales. “This new version takes that signature sound a step further with a new subwoofer driver placement that reduces bass peaks and valleys caused by room reflections. These speakers are equally at home in a listening room or as front speakers in a home theater system.”
The ID1 is available in freestanding, on-wall and in-wall configurations. Standard finishes include rosewood gloss, black gloss, black satin, and sports car red gloss; any desired woodgrain or paint may be accommodated. Grille fabrics are available in 63 different colors. All Induction Dynamics speakers are
manufactured in Lenexa, Kansas USA.
