Question About Transcoders

Dear Gary: I would like to congratulate you and the WSR staff for the excellent work that everyone contributes into each and every issue of the Widescreen Review magazine. I have been putting together a respectable home-theatre system based on some of the equipment that has been reviewed by WSR. At this moment, I am looking at upgrading my current Panasonic A-310 DVD-Video player to a progressive scan DVD-Video player. This comment leads me to the following question: In the review of the Panasonic H1000 DVD-Video player, Gary Merson mentioned the need of a device called a “transcoder” in order to display this progressive scan signal on a front projection TV. Where can I get more information about some of these “transcoder” devices which Gary Merson mentioned in his article, particularly the manufacturers and their contacts so that I can get my hands on one of these devices? Thank you very much for your help, and keep up the excellent work.
