“The Terminator” Special Edition

I have just received The Terminator Special Edition from Amazon. com. The following instructions appear in the accompanying booklet: “To access special features, press the MENU button on your DVD remote control. To access the AUDIO COMMENTARY: first select SPECIAL FEATURES on the MAIN MENU, then select the COMMENTARY “ON” button, and then select “RESUME FILM.” This suggests to me that there is a commentary track for the movie on Side 1. I am able to select the SPECIAL FEATURES menu from the MAIN MENU, but there appears to be no COMMENTARY “ON” button on the SPECIAL FEATURES menu. There is a RESUME FILM button at the bottom of the menu. And only one of the small-square Easter eggs (the top one) is selectable. There is no SPECIAL FEATURES button on the main menu on Side 2. Is this a problem with my copy, or have there been others with the same problems, or am I misunderstanding the instructions completely?

Staff Writer and Research Editor Michael Coate Comments:

First, I’m assuming you are referring to the just-released MGM disc of The Terminator, rather than last year’s Special Edition DVD release of Terminator 2. Please correct me if I’m mistaken. I believe the confusion stems from the instructions printed in the booklet being a standard blurb that appears in many of MGM’s DVDs and is not entirely accurate as it relates to The Terminator. There is NO audio commentary track during the feature film. There is, however, a commentary option during the Deleted Scenes section of the supplements. To access: 1) place Side 2 (labeled “Special Features” —gold side up) in your player...2) select Terminated Scenes...3) select “Play All With Commentary”...Hope this helps.
