Where To Buy D-VHS D-Theater Titles?

Dear Gary: I never wanted anything to do with HD until I could time shift it. Immediately upon seeing your review of the JVC D-VHS VCR, I purchased one. The big question is, of course, where can I buy content? Your review of U-571 in the D-VHS D-Theater format was nice, but no retailer has heard of the format. Not even good old DVD Planet has a clue about the format. Can you give me a hint about the retail availability of D-Theater D-VHS? Specifically, where?

Editor-In-Chief Gary Reber Comments:

In the article in which I introduced the D-VHS D-Theater platform in Issue 59, April, I indicated that the studios won’t begin releasing prerecorded movie titles until June. Artisan has targeted a June 6 street date for Terminator 2: Judgment Day, and both DreamWorks and Universal have targeted June 11 for The Peacemaker and U-571. By the time you read this, the studios will have formally announced their launch dates and marketing plans. Expect from 20th Century Fox X-Men and Independence Day in June, and from DreamWorks GalaxyQuest and The Haunting. Universal is planning Backdraft and End Of Days as their next D-Theater releases. All the D-Theater titles will be available for purchase as soon as they are released on two of WSR’s Web sites: www. WidescreenReview.com and DVHSMovie Guide.com. The shopping component of these sites will enable you to order every prerecorded D-VHS D-Theater title as it becomes announced and streets. Stay tuned.
