Dear Gary:I was just reading the latest Issue 63, August. On page 18, there is a letter from a reader entitled “DVI HDCP Issue.” It was addressed to FCC Chairman Powell. The reader writes: “I understand that HD products with DVI have been announced, but are not even out yet!”JVC has been selling TVs with DVI for two years. The first TV was the AV-61S902, which started selling in April, 2001. The second TV was the AV-36P902, which started selling in November 2001. This year we have 48- and 56-inch 16:9 rear-projection TVs, with DVI already in the market, and two more models to be introduced this year.JVC was one of the first companies who commited to DVI in consumer electronics products. Our all-progressive models, whether CRT rear-projection or direct-view, will have a DVI input.Although products were not widely available, like our regular TV distribution for our first two models, we have been selling products with DVI for a long time.DVI has been standarized as version 1.0 as of April 2001—EIA-861, 861a, and 861b. HDMI has not been standarized yet but it will be backward compatible. All our progressive TVs are DVI 1.0, compatible with HDCP.I am not trying to advertise JVC here, but certainly misleading information which was sent to FCC Powell is quite an issue. The reader points out that DVI itself is the wrong way, but a misunderstanding is a misunderstanding.

Thank you for putting the record straight with respect to JVC progressive TV displays incorporating DVI interfaces that are version 1.0-compliant with the DVI standard.
